The Aurora family of Hard Metric backplane connectors is part of Smiths Interconnect’s SpaceNXT initiative, the aim of which is to create a broad range of high-reliability connectivity solutions that are readily available to the market and are pre-tested and qualified for next generation space applications.
The SpaceNXT Aurora series has been specifically designed for LEO satellites and is currently available in three sizes of 55, 110 and 125 contacts in an industry standard gender configuration, in straight and right-angle terminations.
SpaceNXT Aurora is offered with 1.27 micron gold plating on the contact mating surfaces for improved durability and resistance to fretting corrosion compared to standard COTS Hard Metric connectors.
The connectors have gone through extensive qualification testing to ESA ESCC 3401 specifications in order to support today's rigorous customer and industry application requirements.
