Regulated and isolated 9W DC/DC converters offer 4:1 input range

XP Power has announced the ITZ series of compact regulated 9 Watt DC/DC converters. Believed to be the smallest 9W DC/DC converters currently on the market, the units accommodate an ultra-wide 4:1 input and are available with single and dual outputs.

The series has been packaged in an ultra-compact metal case measuring 21.9 x 11.2 x 9.6mm and the converters are up to 89% efficient and have a power density of 44W/in3. This level of efficiency means that no additional heat sink components or forced airflow is required, ensuring that the converter occupies the smallest footprint possible, which is essential for space constrained designs.

The series offers two 4:1 input range options of either 9 to 36V DC or 18 to 75V DC, covering all the popular nominal input voltages of 12, 24 and 48V DC. Single output models are available with 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, or 24V DC. Duals provide +/- 5, +/- 12 or +/- 15V DC. No minimum load is required.

Input to output isolation is rated at 1.5kV DC across the range, and optionally, 3kV DC isolation is available on –H models. Suitable for most environments the ITZ series can operate across an extended temperature range from – 40 to 85°C and deliver the full output power up to 60°C. A remote on/off function provides the ability to externally control the converter such as for sequencing start-up or automatically powering it on or off.

All model meets EN55032 level A for conducted and radiated noise without any additional components.

Typical applications for the ITZ series include mobile, portable and wireless products, and any low power use case where isolation and DC voltage conversion is required.
