Converters offer wide input range

The latest additions to XP Power's range of encapsulated pcb mount ultra compact DC/DC converters are the 15W JTK15 and 30W JTL30 series.

Housed in a metal package, they are designed to accommodate an ultra wide 4:1 input range. Covering nominal input voltages of 12, 24 or 48VDC, the units can accept either 9 to 36VDC or 18 to 75VDC inputs. The JTK15 series, measuring 25.4 x 25.4 x 9.90mm, is available in single or dual output models. The JTL30 series measures 50.8 x 25.4 x 10.16mm and offers single, dual or triple output options. Single output models provide 3.3, 5, 12 or 15VDC, with the duals providing +/-5, +/-12 or +/- 15 VDC. Triple outputs provide 3.3 or 5VDC with either +/-12 or +/-15 VDC combinations. According to XP Power, all outputs are fully regulated and vary no more than +/- 0.5% over all input conditions for single output models. Dual and triple outputs are said to vary by less than +/- 1%. Additionally, the output voltage can be trimmed by +/-10% on single output models. The convertors feature an input to output and input/output to case isolation of 1600VDC for up to 1 minute. Both the JTK15 and JTL30 also feature a remote on/off signal. This can be used to control the output rails or to sequence start up procedures. All units feature overvoltage and continuous short circuit protection. These highly efficient DC/DC converters, up to 91% for the JTL30, can operate at full output power from -40 to 50°C for the JTK15 and the JTL30 up to 65°C, without derating. With a maximum case temperature of 105°C, no additional heat sinking or forced airflow is required making the converters suitable for most operating environments. The JTK15 and JTL30 series suit applications in a wide variety of mobile, portable and wireless products, and where designers are looking to reduce the size of their end product.
