Omron extends low leakage MOSFET relay module range

Omron Electronic Components Europe has released high voltage and high current versions of its T-configuration MOSFET relay modules.

The T-modules offer reliability and durability of solid state relays combined with a low leakage current of just 1 pA or less, allowing their use in measurement and other applications where mechanical relays have previously been preferred.

The Omron G3VM-61MT features a load current of 800 mA, and the G3VM-101MT offers a load voltage of 100 V. These devices join the high isolation G3VM-21MT.

The low leakage current of these devices is achieved using a T- circuit structure that sends most leakage current to ground, and effectively combine the advantages of the mechanical and MOSFET relays to provide an accurate, compact and long-lasting switching solution with no mechanical contacts.

A key application of the modules is supporting accurate measurements in all types of test equipment where mechanical relays have previously been preferred due to their low leakage current. However, they have a much lower lifespan due to abrasion of contacts which reduces measurement accuracy over time. In intensive use, frequent replacement may be necessary pushing up the maintenance costs.

The devices are compact in size measuring 5 mm x 3.75 mm x 2.7 mm. This has been achieved by the incorporation of the T-circuit into the module. The devices are surface mounted and offered in SPST with no configuration required.

The electrical load characteristics of the new devices are 800 mA, 60 V for the G3VM-61MT and 550 mA and 100 V for the G3VM-101MT. The G3VM-21MT features exceptional isolation performance of less than - 30dB at 1 GHz and is rated at 200 mA, 20 V.
