Automotive grade GNSS high gain low noise amplifier

Nisshinbo Micro Devices has launched the NJG1187AKGC-A, an automotive-grade, high gain, low noise amplifier (LNA), compliant to various automotive standards such as AEC-Q100 Grade 2 and VDA 6.3.

This LNA is specifically targeted at Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) applications, including GPS, QZSS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo and provides amplification and noise reduction capabilities to enhance the performance of GNSS receivers. Example applications using this LNA are automotive GNSS receivers, active antenna, dashboard camera, satellite navigation, and GNSS modules.

The NJG1187AKGC-A offers the flexibility to operate in different frequency bands. By adjusting the value of external components, it can be tuned to either the L1 band (1.5 GHz) or the L2/5/6 bands (1.1 to 1.2 GHz). This feature allows the LNA to be compatible with various GNSS systems.

With a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +105°C, the NJG1187AKGC-A is suited for automotive applications, where temperature variations can be significant. It can withstand the demanding conditions encountered in automotive environments.

To ensure robustness and protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD), the LNA incorporates integrated ESD protection on each pin. This feature helps to safeguard the amplifier and maintain its reliability in the presence of ESD events.

The package used for the NJG1187AKGC-A is an ESON6-GC, featuring wettable flanks. This design enhances the solderability of the component and facilitates improved automated visual inspection of the solder joints. These advantages contribute to the overall reliability and quality of the product.
