AC to PoL development kit

An AC to point-of-load development kit from Vicor is said to enable power system designers to quickly evaluate a complete power system solution. The kit consists of an AC Front End chassis, which can deliver up to 400W via an isolated and regulated distribution bus voltage, and a point-of-load chassis (PoL), which generates three independent regulated PoL outputs. According to Vicor, the kits include all necessary ancillary components, including a bus hold up capacitor assembly and an AC line cord.

The front end chassis features Vicor’s AIM 1714 and PFM 4414 modular front-end components. The AIM module provides full wave rectification, Class B conducted EMI filtering and input surge protection, while the PFM takes power from the AIM, applies power factor correction and delivers up to 400W at 24 or 48V DC. The AIM/PFM combination is said to allow power systems designers to implement a full function AC-DC front end system.

The PoL chassis has three independent evaluation boards and a power input interface assembly. The power interface receives power from the front end chassis at 24 or 48V DC and distributes it to the evaluation boards, which feature either a 3.3V, 5V or 12V PI33/PI35xx Zero-Voltage Switched buck regulator.

The kit is said to provide everything necessary to begin testing and evaluating Vicor’s end modular power systems solutions.
