Smallest PoL converters for FPGA and programmable logic designs

The MYMGK series of miniature ‘Mono Block’ type surface mount point-of-load (PoL) DC/DC converters has been launched by Murata. The non-isolated converters are available in 6A and 20A models. Each version is available with two output voltage range options.

MYMGK series is said to deliver fast transient response with a minimum of external output capacitors, thus contributing to shrinking board size. Applications for these converters include powering FPGAs and CPUs used in data, telecommunications and networking communications equipment, and in equipment using distributed bus architecture.

Measuring 9 x 7.5 x 5mm, the 6A MYMGK1R806FRSR has a programmable output voltage ranging from 0.7 to 1.8V DC from a 5V DC input or 0.7 to 5V DC from a 12V DC nominal input.

The 20A models measure 10.5 x 9 x 5.6mm and include the MYMGK1R820FRSR, operating from a 5V DC nominal input and the MYMGK1R820ERSR, from a 12V DC. The output voltage can be programmed in the 0.7 to 1.8V DC range.

Across the range control signals include remote on/off and a power good indication. Safety and protection features include under input voltage lock out (UVLO), output short circuit and output over current.
