Zuken and CONTACT Software integrate EPD processes

CONTACT Software and Zuken are introducing a solution that enables end-to-end data and process integration across mechanical, electrical and electronic design.

With a new standard interface module that integrates Zuken's DS-2 platform into CONTACT Elements, common customers can efficiently link their E/E development with enterprise-wide Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to achieve complete transparency from early design phases throughout the product lifecycle.

The standard module for CONTACT Elements and Zuken’s DS-2 supports the secure synchronisation of part master data, parts lists, documents and design data between Zuken’s ECAD systems E3.series (electrical and fluid engineering), and CR-8000 (PCB design) and CONTACT Software’s CIM Database PLM.

In this way, complex product data can be consolidated into a holistic view of electrical, electronic and mechanic subsystems that can be verified at an early stage in the product development process.

“We are seeing a growing demand for data and process integration that is driven by mega-trends such as industry 4.0, e-mobility and smart cities, which require disciplines to work more closely together in product development”, commented Oliver Hechtl, Head of Strategic Data Management & Integration Solutions, Zuken. “The interaction of systems in a networked environment requires an open best-in-class approach that combines established solutions to provide new levels of capability.”

"Together with Zuken, we have realised an application that is highly scalable thanks to our open technology platforms," said Michael S. Murgai, Director Strategy & Operations at CONTACT Software. "This enables us to flexibly extend the jointly developed standard integration whenever new software functions or customer requirements have to be added.”

The Integration has already successfully been deployed with selected common customers. It will be jointly marketed and supported by Zuken and Contact Software.
