Point of load converter range expanded

1 min read

Murata has added two devices to its Okami OKL range of non isolated point of load DC/DC converters.

The OKL2-T/12 and the OKL2-T/20 feature Murata's inspectable Land Grid Array (iLGA) package that allows probing of all signal pads and visual inspection that is not possible when conventional LGA packages are used. Both models have a typical conversion efficiency in the range from 93 to 95% and are suited to use in space constrained distributed power applications such as embedded computing, networking, and telecommunications equipment.

The OKL2-T/12, measuring 20.32 x 11.43 x 8.55mm, delivers up to 12A, while the OKL2-T/20 provides 20A from a 33.02 x 13.46 x 8.75mm package. Both have variants that accommodate input ranging around a nominal 5V DC (2.4 to 5.5V DC) or 12V DC (4.5 to 14V DC). Output voltage from the 5V models can be set within the range from 0.6 to 3.63V DC, while the 12V DC models have an output in the range from 0.69 to 5.5V DC.

Safety and protection features include undervoltage lockout, output short circuit, overcurrent and overtemperature. Remote on/off is available, with either negative or positive logic. The converters can be synchronised using an external signal, while the output voltage can be sequenced or tracked to an external input voltage.

The modules have UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 safety approvals and are designed to be used in temperatures ranging from -40 to 85°C.
