NXP mosfets target virtually all automotive applications

NXP Semiconductors has launched a family of mosfets targeted at most automotive applications, from lamp driving to power control in body and chassis systems.

The company says the parts, based on its Trench 6 technology, will cover the entire voltage range required in a car with one architecture, resulting in a simple, reliable solution. "With our Trench 6 automotive power mosfets, we're offering an optimised, high reliability solution for virtually every mosfet socket in the car," said Ian Kennedy, product marketing manager at NXP. "Through extensive testing, we've demonstrated that Trench 6 – with its simple, evolutionary architecture and proven track record in the standard mosfets market over the past two years – can deliver the quality and reliability required to last the lifetime of the car." The mosfets are AEC-Q101 qualified, having completed extended lifetime testing at 175% for more than 1600 hours, which the company says significantly exceeds Q101 requirements and offers extremely low ppm failure levels. The first products will be available in D2PAK packaging at voltage grades between 30 and 100V. Future releases will be made in other automotive packages, including Power-SO8 LFPAK56, as part of a major portfolio expansion aimed at application flexibility.
