Domestic energy management kit previewed

Domestic energy management specialist Onzo has provided early details of its smart energy kit. The two part kit – display and sensor – will provide consumers with information to help them understand and manage their energy use.

Joel Hagan, chief executive, said: “The combination of usefulness, ease of installation and attractive design makes it unique. The kit will have a lasting place in the home and, for the first time, will really put people in charge of their energy use.” The Onzo sensor clips to one of the cables coming from the electricity meter and is designed for easy installation by the user. The sensor harvests its power from the cable to which it is attached and stores up to 10 years’ data. Data is transmitted wirelessly to the display. The kit is expected to be available in the middle of 2009.
