Mornsun’ Switching Regulator Series Extended

1A series increases range of application

Leading UK Power Conversion distributor PowerPax is pleased to launch the K78L R3 series of 1A non-isolated switching regulators from global power conversion manufacturer Mornsun. This new range complements the popular 500mA series and extends the range of application for this product family.

This series is designed to meet the greater current requirements found in many of todays’ applications and is provided in a 3-Pin SIP package that is compatible with the standard linear LM78XX (TO-220 package) regulator. This range provides excellent levels of efficiency (up to 96%), is very small and does not require any form of heat sink. The no-load input current takes into account the need for the highest possible efficiency in all conditions and is typically 0.1mA.

These regulators have a wide input voltage range, 6 to 36V DC, and deliver precise positive output voltages in the range of 3.3 to 15V DC. They can also be configured to provide negative voltage outputs and feature a typical output voltage accuracy of ±2%. Line regulation is typically ±0.2%, load regulation ±0.4% typical and ripple & noise is typically 20mV P-P (20Mhz bandwidth). The output transient recovery time is 0.1mS and the output features continuous short circuit protection with self-recovery.

These regulators have an MTBF of 2000K hr’s (MIL-HDBK-217F @ 25°C) and feature an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (de-rating above +70°C). They meet UL60950 and EN60950 safety requirements.

Also available from this range are 1.5A and 2A switching regulators with the same footprint.

These regulators are suited to many application including, but not limited to, industrial control systems, instrumentation, digital systems, electricity monitoring & control and battery powered systems. They offer a cost effective solution with lead times of typically 4 weeks for production volumes and samples generally available from stock.
