Due to the increasing number of such cross-linked devices, METZ CONNECT has developed a future-oriented product innovation which offers an intelligent alternative to the pluggable RJ45 solution.
This PC board connection can be used in such applications as network cameras, WiFi access points, room temperature controllers, house telephones, fire alarm systems and access control systems.

METZ CONNECT is focused on the system concept, so the installation cable – the permanent link – can be connected directly without the need for a preterminated patch cord or a fi eld installable plug with special tools. Furthermore, the solution works without a wall outlet and the link distance can be reduced.

The benefi ts of direct connections are obvious: a low-profi le housing design with the compact terminal block; increased security as the cable connection is inside the housing; cost benefits in the system connection; and a high connection friendliness bring tomorrow’s network cabling of fixed installed devices to perfection.
The EP31 Ethernet connection system is available as Megabit Terminal Block for data transmission rates of up to 100Mbit/s as pluggable solution for SMT sockets. Connection of the wire is executed by insulation displacement contacts and the part is suitable for use with twisted pair cables rated from AWG 26/7 to 22/7 (stranded wire) and from AWG 24/1 to 22/1 (solid wire). Connection can be made in a horizontal or vertical position. Meanwhile, the Megabit Terminal Block can also be used for Power over Ethernet (PoE, PoE
plus and UpoE) systems.
