Würth releases DIY origami shielding cabinets

Würth Elektronik has extended its range of shielding cabinets with the “ShielDIY”.

These cabinets are made from thin, tin-plated sheet metal, which allows the user to fold it themselves according to their EMC solution needs. The WE-SHC shielding cabinets are designed to keep electromagnetic radiation away from the circuit board and improve the noise immunity of the output and input stages of HF, oscillator and EMC-sensitive components in plastic housings.

Described as the “ShielDIY - Do It Yourself Custom Shielding Cabinet”, this tool is fully customisable in shape, with pre-embossed fold lines at 5 mm intervals.

According to Würth: “To produce an individual shielding cabinet of the required shape, all that needs to be done is cut out with scissors, fold and solder onto the PC Board. We recommend cutting along the carved lines before bending to the desired shape. Please remember to save some material for soldering.”
