Waterproof gland takes cables with and without connectors

Foremost Electronics has announced the Icotek KVT-ER split cable gland which it says sets new standards in connectorised cable routing.

According to Foremost, the KVT-ER cable gland is a liquid and dust proof (IP66/IP68), rugged, easy-to-install and a cost-effective solution for routing, sealing and strain relief of cables with or without preassembled connectors.

The Icotek enables routing and sealing cables with connectors or complete cable harnesses. It will also accept electric, pneumatic or hydraulic lines without terminals or connectors, and allows corrugated conduits to be routed into control panels, enclosures or machinery and then sealed and strain relieved.

Up to 4 lines with diameters from 1-16mm or one line from 16- 35mm can be routed and sealed with the KVT-ER cable gland. The maximum dimensions of the routed pre-assembled connectors depend on the metric cut-out sizes, not on the split cable grommets. The split design of the gland facilitates simple retrofitting, repairs and maintenance. The KVT-ER sizes are based on standard metric panel cut-outs M32, M50 and M63 and hexagonal locknuts are included in the package.

Foremost says that the high contact pressure, injected elastomer gasket and the use of KT single-hole cable grommets, means the KVT-ER cable gland meets IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP68 protection ratings. The KVT-ER cable gland is also designed to enable strain relief on the routed cables according to EN 62444. NEMA TYPE 12 / 4X, and c UR US certifications are currently in progress.
