Vicor adds four parts to DCM range of DC/DC converters

Four rugged, chassis mountable DC/DC converters – two 270V and two 28V nominal products – have been added by Vicor to its DCM family.

Two of the parts accept supplies ranging from 16 to 50V. One provides a 5V, 180W output, the other provides a 15V, 320W output. The other two additions accept inputs ranging from 160 to 420V, providing 500W at either 12V or 28V

The DCM in a VIA package accepts an unregulated wide range input and generates an isolated and regulated output. Using a high frequency zero-voltage switching topology, the converter is said to deliver high efficiency across the input line range. According to Vicor, the DCM family provides the highest power density in a smaller footprint than competitive parts. Amongst product features are tight output voltage regulation and a secondary referenced control interface for trim, enable and remote sense operation.

Applications for the parts include industrial and process control, distributed power, communications and transportation.
