Photocoupler targets industrial motor control and inverter designs

Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched an ultra compact, extended temperature photocoupler, designed to help engineers meet safety isolation requirements in industrial power and motion control applications.

The TLP104 is supplied in an S06 package and features a minimum isolation voltage rating of 3750Vrms. It has an operating temperature range of -40 to 125°C. Toshiba says the combination of size and isolation rating allows designers to minimise the space required for the isolation interfaces between high voltage and logic circuitry. The photocoupler features an inverter logic, open collector output and supports requirements for high speed operation. Measuring 7 x 3.7mm, it is designed to ensure maximum propagation delay times down to 400ns. Output voltages from 0.5 to 30V are supported and an internal Faraday shield guarantees a minimum common mode transient immunity of ±15kV/µs.
