Available in the USPN-4B02 package (0.95 x 0.75 x 0.4mm), as well as in standard SSOT-24 and SOT-25 packages, the new XC6224 Series of voltage regulators from Torex Semiconductor is designed to offer fast load transient response performance, PSRR is 70dB @ 1kHz, as well as low quiescent current performance - 33uA in operation.

According to Torex, the low dropout voltage regulators provide a highly stable, low noise supply that meets the demands of most battery-driven circuits. Output voltage can be factory set anywhere from 0.8 to 3.0V in 50mV steps, and the operating voltage range is from 1.2 to 3.6V. The LDO is also compatible with low ESR ceramic capacitors and the series is said to offer low dropout voltage – typically 210mV with a 150mA load (VOUT=2.8V). An over current protection circuit and short circuit protection are also built in. The over current protection circuit will operate when the output current reaches its limit current level. The chip enable function enables design engineers to turn off the output, putting the device into standby mode, thereby reducing power consumption. In addition, the XC6224 features an automatic CL discharge function which discharges the electric charge at the CL capacitor when the IC is put into standby, ensuring that the VOUT pin drops down to ground quickly.
