ROHM announces name change for subsidiary OKI Semiconductor

ROHM Semiconductor has changed the name of its subsidiary OKI Semiconductor to Lapis Semiconductor.

The name change will be applied to OKI's three subsidiaries, OKI Miyazaki, OKI Miyagi and OKI Thailand. According to ROHM, the change will have no impact on the company's management policy or business operations. ROHM acquired the company three years ago from OKI Electric Industry in a bid to enhance its offerings with LSIs and logic LSIs. Noriaki Okada, president of OKI Semiconductor, said: "Three years after the acquisition, it's time for the next step reflected by this measure. 'Lapis' or 'Lapis Lazuli' in gemology is a symbol for ideals and brilliance which we want to bring to the business of our customers and which we also anticipate for the future of our company."
