Qualcomm Technologies has unveiled its new Aware Platform, which is intended to help developers and business to use real-time information and data insights to support their digital transformation programmes.

Ecosystem fragmentation and system design complexity is consistently sited as preventing IoT deployments delivering what they promise, but by combining silicon and an extensive ecosystem of hardware and software partners with a developer-friendly cloud framework, Qualcomm Aware provides a set of differentiated services for managing assets that require critical, accurate, and time-sensitive decision making.

By also providing ubiquitous global connectivity, intelligently optimising and fusing location technologies with sensor alerts and critical device management and control features, Qualcomm Aware provides a baseline for IoT and will help, according to Qualcomm, enterprises looking drive operational efficiencies.

The platform provides an expansive ecosystem of hardware and software partners; and an API-first architecture and developer-friendly tools that enables interoperability with partner clouds and software tools.

While over 350 million Qualcomm Technologies’ IoT modem chipsets have been shipped to date Qualcomm Aware is more than just the silicon and is able to deliver intelligent and ubiquitous location capabilities enabling end-to-end asset and operational visibility for users.

So that IoT can scale, a range of different solutions are needed to address the varying needs of industry applications. Qualcomm Aware brings together hardware and software partners to quickly and efficiently develop connected solutions tailored to different use cases.

The platform will include Qualcomm Aware blueprints, which are individualised, and scalable solution architectures customised for specific use cases meaning that enterprises will be able to quickly and efficiently roll-out pre-designed solutions.

Qualcomm Aware also offers a highly customisable framework and implements standard APIs that are designed to provide interoperability with private clouds, industry-specific application platforms, existing enterprise software tools for enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management, inventory management and more.

The initial launch of Qualcomm Aware will focus on businesses operating in supply chains and logistics.
