Qualcomm invests in gesture recognition technology

Wireless chip manufacturer Qualcomm has acquired certain IP property assets from GestureTek, a specialist in gesture recognition technology.

Qualcomm has also obtained engineering resources from the company and plans to integrate the technology into chips that will go into devices such as smartphones, tablets and home entertainment equipment. Terms of the deal were not revealed, but Qualcomm said it plans to incorporate gesture recognition technology into its current and next generation Snapdragon processors. GestureTek will retain other assets for its gesture controlled public display and digital signage business.
