Out of the box development environment for ST mcus

STM32Java from STMicroelectronics is said to be a complete, out of the box development environment that provides everything needed to build Java apps for embedded deployment, supported by royalty paid microcontrollers.

The package provides an efficient toolbox for creating advanced graphical user interfaces for a range of products based on STM32 microcontrollers. Drawing on design techniques similar to those used in the mobile industry, the approach is also said to suit small M2M communication apps for Internet of Things devices, including remote sensors. The product line provides an Integrated Development Environment with its Java compiler, several Java platforms optimised for STM32 mcus, standard libraries and related tools, and the means to connect Java and C seamlessly. Also provided are functionally accurate simulators, starter kits and predefined STM32 part numbers for device production. ST has collaborated with IS2T to adapt the software to STM32 mcus. It says that, by making available special software royalty paid STM32 mcus (STM32J), it is also providing a simplified business model that allows customers to bring new products to market quickly and cost effectively. "Even very small systems with limited resources can now have smartphone smooth user interfaces that are clear, intuitive and attractive," said Dominique Jugnon, ST's microcontroller development tools manager. "STM32Java is the first commercial quality development platform that enables product developers to realise that goal."
