IAR: Toolchain improves software performance for STM32 F4 mcus

IAR Systems has announced full tool support for all devices in the STM32 F4 family of ARM Cortex-M4 based microcontrollers, recently launched by STMicroelectronics. ST claims the Cortex processor based microcontrollers are the world's most powerful.

According to IAR, the tools improve software performance due to compiler optimisations and integration of the CMSIS dsp library in IAR Embedded Workbench. "The STM32 F4 microcontroller family represents a significant step forward in delivering control and signal processing performance," said Michel Buffa, ST's general manager, Microcontroller Division. "Our customers expect development tools that allow them to take full advantage of the true potential of the device and the IAR Embedded Workbench helps them do that." According to IAR, Embedded Workbench is the world's most widely used tool chain for ARM based microcontrollers.
