Mixed domain scope range expanded

Tektronix has expanded its MDO4000 series of Mixed Domain oscilloscopes with the addition of two entry level models. The devices are said by the company to offer engineers affordable time and frequency domain analysis.

The company says the move is partly in response to the wider use of rf technologies, which makes debug a greater challenge. The latest MDO4000 models address this by providing a low entry point solution that allows engineers to capture time correlated analogue, digital and rf signals for a complete system view, potentially saving days or weeks of debug time. Trevor Smith, technical marketing manager, said: "Those designing embedded systems with wireless connectivity still need to make measurements on analogue channels and they're still looking at digital channels with parallel or serial data. But the number one challenge is still rf measurement, whether it's rf signals or emissions. It's a difficult area." The MDO4014 and MDO4034 models offer four analogue channels, 16 digital channels and one rf channel. The devices have an analogue bandwidth of 100 MHz and 350 MHz respectively, with the rf frequency range for both models extending from 50kHz to 3GHz.
