IR introduces green igbts for electric vehicle applications

International Rectifier has introduced a new family of 600V igbts for electric and hybrid vehicle applications such as air conditioner inverters, pumps and positive temperature coefficient heaters.

Available in a D2Pak package for compact surface mount systems, the igbts feature a nominal current of 24A and a minimum short circuit rating of 5µs. The devices offer low VCE(on) to reduce power dissipation and positive VCE(on) temperature coefficient, which IR says makes them suitable for paralleling. The igbts are available in TO-262 and TO-220 packages optimised for standard through hole assembly. Other features include an optimised square reverse bias safe operating area and a maximum operating temperature of up to 175°C. IR says the new devices are environmentally friendly and assembled with the company's automotive grade bill of materials which are lead free and RoHS compliant.
