IR introduces soft switching igbt for hybrid/EV applications
International Rectifier has announced a new automotive qualified igbt for soft switching applications such as positive temperature coefficient heater applications used in electric and hybrid vehicles.
Available in a compact TO-220 package, the 1200V AUIRGDC0250 features low VCE(on) to reduce power dissipation and achieve higher power density, positive VCE(on) temperature coefficient for paralleling, and optimised square reverse bias safe operating area.
The soft switching nature of the AUIRGDC0250 is said to make it ideal for helping adhere to system level EMI regulations. In addition, IR claims the device's low conduction losses make it well suited for relay replacement sockets including positive temperature coefficient heater applications.
The new devices are all environmentally friendly and assembled with IR's automotive grade bill of materials which are lead free and RoHS compliant.
