Imec, Delta sign asic cooperation deal

Imec and Delta Microelectronics have concluded a cooperation agreement under which they will provide customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with turnkey and partial turnkey asic services based on production at TSMC.

"This partnership is unique in Europe and provides customers with the most comprehensive and reliable path to successful asic development and production using TSMC technologies," said Per Ølund, executive vice president of Delta Microelectronics. "It combines the strengths and long track record of imec and Delta." Imec brings access to TSMC's technology and wafer supply, while Delta offers such services as prototyping, package development, assembly, test, qualifications, characterisation, failure analysis, logistics and supply chain management. "With the combined strengths of both organisations," said Carl Das, Imec's director of asic services, "customers in EMEA can benefit from the experienced teams at imec and Delta. This will reduce risk and shorten development time and component production. The flexible business models offered by the partnership will enable customers to choose what is right for their asic projects."
