IDT has launched a low power, dual 16bit d/a converter with JESD204B for multi carrier broadband wireless applications.

Claimed to be the first of its kind in industry, the DAC165xD1G5HN is designed to offer best in class dynamic performance and simplify board routing. The 1.5Gs/s device covers all major multi carrier broadband wireless customer platform requirements and derivatives, and consumes just 400mW of power per channel at full operating speed. According to IDT, this means it dissipates less heat than other devices in its class, allowing for more densely populated enclosures and reduced system level cooling requirements. Furthermore, the performance of the JESD204B interface is said to simplify pcb routing and stack up by replacing 32 matched differential lane pairs with only four JESD204B high speed differential lanes. "As the industry's lowest power 1.5Gs/s dual d/a converters to include the JESD204B high speed serial interface, the DAC165xD1G5HN family of converters offers tremendous value in performance, ease of use and thermal management," said Christian Kermarrec, vp and general manager of IDT's wireless systems division.
