IAR announces support for ARM application processors

1 min read

IAR Systems' software development tool suite IAR Embedded Workbench now supports code generation and debugging on the ARM Cortex-A8 and ARM Cortex-A9 processor cores.

The suite has been designed to enable engineers to build and debug software for applications requiring high computing performance and low power consumption. "We are committed to provide customers with reliable and powerful development tools for current and future ARM processors" said Stefan Skarin, ceo of IAR Systems. "The availability of a single development environment for all ARM cores to provide migration paths is of great importance for customers running multiple projects on different processors." ARM Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A9 based devices are typically used where a combination of high performance and low power consumption is required, such as handheld high end consumer electronics and advanced medical applications. According to IAR, the Embedded Workbench provides developers with tools supporting the development of software applications that meet these requirements. IAR C/C++ Compiler adds software performance by applying optimisations that utilise the processor's capabilities, while IAR C-SPY Debugger provides power debugging technology. Support for ARM Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A9 is included in IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM from version 6.20.
