Following the signing of a licensing agreement with ARM, Fujitsu Semiconductor is developing an SoC solution featuring ARM's big.LITTLE technology and Mali-T624 graphics processing.

"ARM is pleased to be building on a close relationship with Fujitsu and we are excited about the potential offered by combining big.LITTLE technology with Mali gpus for a wider range of end devices," said Pete Hutton, general manager of ARM's Media Processing Division. The device, set to feature a dual core Cortex-A15 processor and a dual core Cortex-A7, is targeted at a wide range of consumer and industrial devices, and at visualisation systems. The SoC will feature a quad core version of the Mali-T624 gpu, which will take over specific tasks from the cpu, improving system performance and decreasing power consumption. Mitsugu Naito, executive vice president of Fujitsu's Advanced Products Business Unit, said: "The energy efficient pairing of ARM Cortex cpus in a big.LITTLE configuration with the performance and gpu compute functionality offered by the Mali-T624 gpu opens a range of opportunities for the features offered to end consumers and industrial applications."
