Everspin produces 16Mbit mram

MRAM specialist Everspin Technologies has unveiled a 16Mbit device organised as 1M x16. Said to be pin and function compatible with srams, the part offers access times of 35ns and data retention for more than 20 years.
Magnetoresistive ram (mram) uses the magnetism of electron spin to provide non volatility without the wear factor associated with other memories. Other benefits of the technology include 'instant on' and power loss protection in electronic systems.

"Everspin continues to rapidly expand its mram portfolio, enabling more customers to differentiate their products," said Saied Tehrani, Everspin's chief operating officer. "Our product roadmap will deliver mram at increasingly higher densities, while maintaining mram's characteristics in a cost effective way." The MR4A16B, which requires a 3.3V supply has been developed to meet the requirements of sectors such as industrial automation, robotics, network and data storage. Other potential applications that currently use srams include multifunction printers. The MR4A16B is available in a 48pin bga and a 54pin tsopII.
