High Temperature 40GHz Contact for Engineering & Production Test

BGA socket uses unique contact technology that has precise silver balls held together by a conductive formulation (50 ohm impedance) are suspended in a non-conductive flexible elastomer substrate with a patented solid core for enhanced durability and reliable performance over time, temperature and cycles. Solutions are available for 0.25mm to 1.27mm LGA, BGA, QFN, CSP, POP, WLP and other packages.

40 GHz BGA Socket for Bandwidth Engine IC Quickly and easily Socket your 19x19mm, 1mm pitch BGA packages on any application board with performance equivalent to direct solder version Ironwood Electronics has recently introduced a new high performance BGA socket product line using unique elastomer capable of high speed, low inductance, high endurance and wide temperature applications. The SM-BGA-9019 socket is designed for 19x19 mm package size, 1mm pitch and operates at bandwidths up to 40 GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. The socket is also designed to dissipate 12 watts with compression screw that has fins designed on top of the screw and axial flow fan. The contact resistance is typically 15 milliohms per pin. The socket connects all pins with 40 GHz bandwidth on all connections. The socket is mounted on the target PCB with no soldering, and uses industry's smallest footprint. The socket is constructed with double latch lid which incorporates a quick insertion method so that IC's can be changed out quickly. The SM-BGA-9019 socket is constructed with high performance and low inductance elastomer contactor. The temperature range is -55 C to +150 C. The pin self inductance is 0.10 nH and mutual inductance of 0.007 nH. Capacitance to ground is 0.069 pF. Current capacity is 4 amps per pin. This BGA socket is specifically designed to work with bandwidth engine IC for 10G serial interfaces which provide peak data throughput of 24 GB per second.
