Giga-snaP™ BGA SMT Adapters - Reliable, Easy to plug, High Speed

Ironwood´s Giga-snaP™ adapters consist of patent pending female sockets which are soldered onto the target PCB. A corresponding male pin BGA adapter, onto which the BGA chip is attached, is then plugged into the female socket and you´re ready to go!

Ironwood´s BGA socket adapters provide an inexpensive and reliable method for attaching BGA chips to target board. The product line consists of patent pending female sockets that matches a particular BGA pattern. The female BGA socket is soldered to a PCB using standard soldering methods. A corresponding male pin BGA adapter, to which the user attaches their BGA chip, is plugged into the female socket on the board thus interconnecting the chip and the system is ready to go. The SMT adapters have the same solder ball types as the chips they are emulating. Ironwood adapters require half the force of conventional adapters enabling easy insertion/extraction cycles. The electrical path of the BGA socket adapters is a high priority performance issue with the physical length from the top connection point on the male adapter to the solder ball on the female socket is 4.5 mm. This is the shortest connection length by far for machined pin sockets, therefore providing better transmission of high frequency signals. The adapters passed environmental tests (MIL-STD). The Giga-snaP™ BGA socket adapter line is available in different pitches and many different pin counts. You can order Ironwood parts through EMC for all UK customers.
