XP Power targets cost sensitive applications with 15 W and 20 W DC-DC converters

XP Power has introduced the JTD15 and JTD20 series of board-mounted DC-DC converters, which target cost sensitive applications where a compact unit with a wide input range is necessary.

The range is aimed at offering a power solution in multiple markets, including: instrumentation, broadcast, networking, telecommunications and data communications.

Offering 15W and 20W, the JTD15 and JTD20 DC-DC modules provide high efficiency in an industry-standard format, an ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range, and an extended operating temperature range of –40 to +1000C.

Providing regulated single and dual output models in the range, the JTD15 and JTD20 series offer a choice of wide 4:1 input voltage ranges of 9–36 or 18–75VDC, making them suitable for 12, 24 and 48VDC input applications. Output voltages include: 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 15VDC single outputs or ±5V, ±12V and ±15V dual outputs. Input to output isolation is 1600VDC.

Coming in small-size metal-cased packages with dimensions of only 40.64 x 25.4 x 10.4 mm, the modules provide designers with more board real estate to add other features, or to reduce the size of the overall end product. Offering efficiency from 82% to 90%, the modules also run cooler and dissipate less heat in end systems, making them capable of operating in most environments with no need for airflow or heatsinks. In addition, the modules deliver full output power up to +70°C with no derating.

Other features include: ±10% output voltage trim with an external resistor for single output models; and remote on/off, as standard on all models. Both JTD15 and JTD20 ranges also meet EN55032 Level A EMI standards with no external filtering required, thereby saving valuable PCB space.
