System-On-Module board for high-end industrial applications

Renesas has released its emCON-RZ/G1E System-On-Module (SOM) board, designed for the evaluation and production of high-end industrial applications using Renesas’ RZ/G Series of microprocessors (MPUs).

The RZ/G Series extends Renesas’ range of RZ/A embedded MPUs. They are said to enable advanced industrial applications with a focus on high speed computation and communication and the combination of advanced 3D graphics with full HD video streaming.

RZ/G MPUs are based on ARM Cortex-A7 and ARM Cortex-A15 dual core architectures and are claimed to provide designers with the choice of high performance and high power efficiency.

The emCON-RZ/G modules are said to allow quick and easy evaluation, and are fully production ready, minimising development time and effort for products that differentiate their manufacturers by enabling quick time-to-market. The emCON-series meets the increasing demands of multimedia and high-speed interfaces for embedded systems.

All the modules within the emCON-series are pin-to-pin compatible, allowing system manufacturers to migrate between them. The modules are provided with the in-house Linux Board Support Package.
