Solid state lighting solutions offer ‘new levels’ of efficiency

NXP Semiconductors has extended its GreenChip series of solid state lighting solutions with the introduction of the SSL4101T controller IC. The mixed signal specialist claims the device offers new levels of professional grade performance for industrial, warehouse and street light applications.

Based on the company's high voltage process, the device is designed to enable led lighting for medium to high power commercial and professional applications with 'industry leading' performance in total harmonic distortion of less than 20%, a power factor of .99 and high efficiency of 94%. The multi chip module contains both a flyback controller and a controller for power factor correction and is designed to provide high efficiency at all power levels. "Today's led luminaire manufacturers are demanding increased power supply efficiency at lower costs in order to address new led application segments," said Jacques Le Berre, director of marketing and business development, lighting solutions, NXP Semiconductors. "GreenChip technology lies at the heart of NXP's cost effective, highly efficient power and lighting ICs. The SSL4101T offers a professional grade solution with levels of efficiency of up to 94%, which is enabling led adoption into a wider range of professional lighting applications such as high bay and low bay lighting found in warehouses and street lighting."
