Murata targets datacentres and industrial applications with new power supply

Murata Power Solutions has unveiled the D2U5T-H3-5000-380-HU3C; a new efficient, 3500/5000 Watt, three-phase power converter for 230/480VAC systems.

The power supply operates from utility-grade, three-phase AC power to deliver 5000 Watts of reliable power to 380V distributed power systems, HVDC datacenters and other industrial applications. It is provided with droop sharing to provide N+1 redundancy of supply to the application. Up to three supplies may be operated in parallel for a total system power of 15,000 Watts.

The D2U5T power supply uses a Vienna rectifier topology to allow true three-wire input without the need for a neutral connection. Its use of digital controls allows a linear efficiency curve, with efficiency greater than 95% at 50% load. The unit accommodates input voltages in the range 180- 264 VAC for 3,500 Watt operation and 320 - 525 VAC for 5,000 Watt output.

Packaged in an industry standard 2U format and delivering a 23.1 Watt per cubic inch power density, the D2U5T is designed for use in broadcast, industrial and large data centre applications where high power conversion efficiency is vital.

The D2U5T is hot pluggable and provides a number of features including over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection. LEDs give an indication of power supply status and any fault conditions occurring in the input, output or power conversion stages of the unit. Control and monitoring of the unit is also possible using the standard PMBus protocol via an I2C interface.
