More performance, lower power from addition to PIC32 family

Microchip has added the PIC32MX1/2 XLP family to its portfolio; a move which is said to offer current PIC32MX customers an easier migration path to higher performance at lower power.

Designed for use in wearable technology, wireless sensor networks and other smart connected devices, the XLP family features low current operating modes for run and sleep, where many applications spend most of their time. XLP technology will enable deep sleep currents as low as 673nA.The devices will also bring more than 40% higher performance than the PCI32MX1/2 portfolio, while reducing average run currents by 50%.

The PIC32MX1/2 XLP family features a choice of 128 or 256kbyte of flash and 32 or 64kbytge of RAM in packages ranging from 28 to 44 pins.Amongst the peripherals are a 10bit, 1Msample/s 13 channel A/D converter.
