IoT Wi-Fi module for Ethernet devices

What is said to be the first embedded enterprise-grade 5G (802.11ac) Wi-Fi IoT module for Ethernet devices, the Lantronix PremierWave 2050, has been unveiled by Alpha Micro. According to the company, the series of modules is suitable for mission critical enterprise applications that demand uninterrupted 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity.

The module is claimed to be rugged, versatile and future-proof, and suitable for a range of vertical applications, including warehousing and logistics, industrial automation, retail and commercial, healthcare and medical devices, environment monitoring, military, and transportation.

The module features a production-ready application stack and connection management, plus 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands, with antenna diversity for coverage in challenging locations. This module also works in temperatures ranging from -40 to 85°C.

As well as delivering a standards-compliant, drop-in wireless solution, the module is said to ease integration and accelerates development with modular RF certification.
