Industry’s lowest drift bandgap voltage reference

Linear has announced the LT6657, a range of ultra-stable bandgap voltage references that is said to exhibit less than 1.5ppm/°C of temperature drift. The LT6657 is also claimed to have 0.5ppmp-p of low frequency noise, less than 30ppm of long term drift and 35ppm of thermal hysteresis.

The LT6657 operates across a temperature range from –40 to 125°C and was designed for demanding high performance instrumentation, test equipment and automotive systems. The LT6657 can operate on a supply voltage from 50mV above the output voltage, up to 40V, and features a supply current of 1.2mA. In shutdown mode, power consumption is 4µA. Load regulation error is less than 6ppm/mA and line regulation error is less than 4ppm/V.

This part is said to be safe under reverse battery conditions, and includes current protection when the output is short-circuited and thermal shutdown for overload conditions. A shutdown is included to allow power reduction while enabling a quick turn-on.

The LT6657 is available in an 8-lead MSOP package and is currently in production with a 2.5V output version. Additional voltage options are in development.
