Female power contacts for 2mm pitch connectors

Looking to increase power delivery levels, Harwin has launched a female contact for its Datamate connectors. Using a proprietary six finger design machined from a single piece of beryllium copper, the T-Contact is said to raise the current capacity on 2mm pitch interconnection systems to 8.5A per contact.

The patented design presents more contact points, which enhances resilience to shock (100G) and vibrational forces (40G for six hours – two hours on each axis). The crimp barrels accept 22AWG wire and comply with IPC-A-620 cable harnessing specifications. The contacts are also gold plated to ensure that reliable performance is maintained, even in demanding environments.

Up to 1000 mating cycles can be undertaken, extending the connector’s lifespan. Their operational temperature range spans from -55 to 125°C.

The T-Contact exhibits 60% greater contact wipe compared to existing Datamate contacts – which improves the self-cleaning action and reduces the possibility of surface contamination. Harwin also supplies a variety of dual-row housings with different jackscrews in a range of sizes, from four to 50 positions.

Target applications include defence, avionics, motorsport, industrial automation and satellites.
