D/A converter supports multi carrier wireless standards

Analog Devices has introduced a 16bit d/a converter for wired and wireless communication systems, which it claims features the industry's best combination of package size, speed and low noise.

Part of the company's existing TxDAC data converter portfolio, the AD9146 is optimised to achieve what it claims is an industry leading data throughput rate of 1.2GS/s and a low noise specification of -164dBm/Hz. Housed in a 7 x 7mm LFCSP package, it integrates an 8bit lvds interface and low noise PLL clock multiplier to allow design engineers to implement up to six transmit channels using half the pcb space previously required. In addition, the AD9146 features 2x and 4x interpolators with coarse modulation that enables baseband signals to be placed in the d/a converter bandwidth. The low noise figure and an inter modulation distortion of 81dBc at 100MHz help to achieve an adjacent channel leakage ratio of 82dBc at 122MHz IF for W-CDMA single channel applications.
