Common mode filters target high speed serial interfaces

ON Semiconductor has introduced a new range of common mode filter (CMF) devices with integrated electrostatic discharge protection.

Designed to suppress noise and provide strong signal integrity, the EMI2121, EMI4182 and EMI4183 devices are suitable for implementation in smartphones, media tablets, wireless connectivity dongles and digital camcorders, as well as set top boxes and dvd players. Gary Straker, vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor's Protection Products division, said: "The EMI2121, EMI4182 and EMI4183 are the result of ongoing collaboration with several smartphone and tablet manufacturers who are creating products with larger, higher resolution displays and supporting increasingly bandwidth intensive applications, while still looking to meet consumer demand for sleek, compact designs." The devices are optimised for protecting high speed differential ports using the Mobile Industry Processor Interface DSI and MIPI CSI2 interface standards. The series supports data speeds of up to 3.4Gb/s.
