Xilinx names Peng as president and CEO

Victor Peng has been appointed president and CEO of Xilinx, with effect from 29 January. Peng, currently chief operating officer, is said by Xilinx to be taking over at a time of increasing momentum and opportunity. He takes over from Moshe Gavrielov.

Dennis Segers, Xilinx’ chairman, noted: “He has been the architect of Xilinx’ innovations for the past decade and will move the company forward with the speed required to capitalise on the opportunities in front of us. The board is thrilled to appoint Victor as CEO as the company enters its next chapter of expanded innovation and growth.”

Peng said: “Xilinx is in a rare position of strength and is poised to capitalise on the next shift in computing. By focusing on delivering unique value to new areas, as well as our traditional markets, I plan to accelerate the company’s growth and create the next wave of shareholder value.”

He joined Xilinx in 2008 from AMD, where he served as a key leader in the central silicon engineering team.
