Wind River acquires Particle Design

Wind River, a specialist supplier of software for intelligent systems, has completed the acquisition of UI/UX design company Particle Design.

The acquisition will bring 'cutting-edge' UI/UX capabilities to the Wind River Studio offering. Particle is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Wind River - the terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Particle is a research and design agency that works with clients at every stage of prototyping, software design, and engineering. Its end-to-end UX research services employ a range of methodologies, from ethnographic research to user evaluations and usability testing; its design services include prototyping, interaction design, and wireframing.

Particle has worked with a number of ndustries, including automotive, electronics, medical, and transportation.

Studio is a cloud-native platform for the development, deployment, operations, and servicing of mission-critical intelligent systems and with the acquisition of Particle, Wind River said that it will further expand the UI/UX capabilities in Studio to include cognitive UI, which uses AI/ML to predict and anticipate needs and behaviours of the user bringing a more contextual, personalised, intelligent assistant type UX.

According to recent intelligent systems research conducted by Wind River, UX is one of the three most important foundational components for long-term success when it comes to intelligent systems.
