Transceivers ‘maximise range and battery life’ in wireless systems

Designed to maximise the range and battery life of wireless systems, the Si446x EZRadioPRO transceiver from Silicon Laboratories is said to be suited to a range of wireless applications, including industrial control systems, sensor networks and electronic shelf labels.

Offering continuous frequency coverage from 119 to 1050MHz, the Si446x transceiver range supports a number of advanced modulation techniques, including 4GFSK, (G) FSK, GMSK and OOK, with maximum data rates of up to 1Mbit/s. The transceivers comply with the IEEE802.15.4 d/g specification and the Wireless M-Bus protocol for smart utility networks. According to the supplier, Si446x transceivers draw 50nA when in sleep/standby mode, with register retention. Transmit current can be as low as 17mA at +10dBm and 85mA at +20dBm. The transceivers also feature a high performance receive mode drawing 13mA and a low current receive mode, drawing 10mA.
