Linux solutions specialist Timesys has announced a strategic alliance with Freescale Semiconductor on the new LinuxLink for Freescale's TWR-MCF5441X and TWR-MPC5125 tower system modules.

"This is a strategically significant relationship for us," said Atul Bansal, ceo, Timesys. "We are committed to offering customers using Freescale processors an industry leading, proven Linux development platform backed by expert, live support." Freescale's Tower System has been designed to provide a customisable embedded design environment for developers to mix and match mcu and peripheral boards to create the exact development platform that suits their needs. Similarly, Timesys's LinuxLink offers a customisable embedded Linux development environment that allows developers to mix and match kernel, toolchain, packages and bootloaders to build the right Linux distribution for their embedded projects. Both companies claim the two products are a 'perfect match' and will help speed time to market while providing an affordable entry point. "Our customers now have a highly flexible and affordable Linux solution that takes full advantage of the low cost, reconfigurable Tower System," said John Weil, industrial solutions manager, Freescale Semiconductor. "We see a continuously growing demand for Linux on our development boards and are happy to collaborate with Timesys to offer our customers this platform."
