Connected by Insight SiP BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) RF modules, these insoles are intended to play a major role in helping to decode human movement.

ARION’s embedded sensors have been designed to capture intricate details of a person’s movements, including foot strike patterns, biomechanical profile indicating which muscles and joints experience the highest loads, and a wide variety of movement parameters and biomechanical metrics.

The insoles act as a personal biomechanics lab, allowing a user to understand and refine every personal movement pattern and function. It is said to be the world’s most sophisticated mobile biomechanical lab with proprietary algorithms providing detailed insights.

ARION is using Insight SiP BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) RF modules to form a core part of the platform’s technological backbone. The modules ensure that the insoles not only collect data wirelessly with precision but also transmit it in real-time, creating a dynamic and responsive feedback loop.

Insight SiP modules are ultra-small size, ensuring a non-intrusive and lightweight addition to the ARION Smart Insoles, and this allows the insoles to maintain their comfort and form factor while still housing powerful technology.

In addition, the position of the modules under the foot presents a challenging RF environment due to the shielding created by the foot, therefore a device with an exceptional RF performance was required.

The low-power consumption characteristic of the Insight SiP BLE modules is instrumental to providing the energy for the long-lasting functioning of ARION. Movement is an active and dynamic process, and these modules ensure that the insoles operate efficiently without draining excessive power. This efficiency not only extends the battery life of the insoles but also enhances the overall user experience by eliminating the need for frequent recharging.

ARION Smart Insoles are intended to continuously capture a wealth of biomechanical data during movement – from pressure points to motion capture, and full gait analysis. The Insight SiP BLE modules act as the conduit, transmitting this data to a connected device in real-time. This data transfer is instantaneous, which is crucial for the ARION app to provide immediate, actionable feedback, creating a dynamic and responsive connection between the insoles and the individual.

Commenting Nagaraj Hegde, PhD, Director of Technology, Arion said, “At ARION, we are revolutionising the analysis of human movement through the development of the world’s thinnest fully integrated smart insole, powered by ARION’s propriety algorithms.

“Insight SiP’s BLE modules have helped us elevate the ARION smart insoles from a powerful tracking device limited to a selection of application and environments, to a sophisticated, real-time biomechanical analysis tool, able to be deployed unnoticeably in any footwear, anywhere in the world, marking a giant leap in wearable technology industry.”

The functionality of ARION Smart Insoles includes:

The ability to gather data and interpret it in real-time. Software facilitates instant feedback, offering actionable insights to enhance movement function, performance and prevent injuries.

The ARION Smart Insoles can be utilised across a multitude of applications including rehabilitation, healthy living, (professional) sports such as football, tennis, golf, etc., footwear selection such as running or hiking shoe specialty shops, strength and conditioning, fitness, walking health, safety in the workplace - any environment in which humans are moving.
