Queen’s Awards 2011: Sentec wins for second year running

Smart grid specialist and product development company, Sentec has been recognised with the Queen's Award for Enterprise for Innovation. This is the second consecutive year that the company has been honoured with a Queen's Award.

The award, which recognises continual innovation and commercialisation, was given to Sentec for its Sterling technology. The technology is at the heart of both the Sensus' iPerl smart water meter, currently being rolled out in the US and the Aquiba A200 smart water meter aimed at the Australian market. Last year Sentec received the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in recognition its growth over three years, during which it more than trebled its overseas earnings to £4.3million. Sentec's ceo, Mark England, said: "We're proud to be recognised with the Queen's Award for Enterprise for Innovation. It's a well deserved reward for the team, and we're delighted that this is the second year in a row we've been honoured with a Queen's Award. The team has worked very hard to produce an innovative design that appeals to global markets." The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are highly prestigious and granted for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development.
