NEC president stands down

NEC electronics has announced that its president and ceo Toshio Nakajima is to stand down as president.

The 61 year old will move aside in June in the midst of continued losses and a proposed merger with Renesas. His new position will be in the role of adviser. Nakajima's replacement will be Junshi Yamaguchi, currently executive vice president. The reshuffle was revealed following NEC's announcement that it had made a $617.5million loss for the last quarter – compared with $123m the previous year.
